About Me
I am a Systems engineer focused on testing and deploying object detection machine learning models. I have extensive experience designing machine learning training and deployment tools, automating various elements of the data and training pipelines in the cloud, and designing continuous testing pipelines for active models. I have predominately worked in the RADAR space developing software for target classification and object detection using both traditional and machine learning techniques.
Experience
Qualcomm, San Diego, CA
SENIOR ENGINEER, Autonomous Driving
July 2019 – Present
- Integrated, tested, and analyzed Radar deep learning networks into Qualcomm’s driverless car software stack
- Optimized run-time performance of machine learning networks in pytorch
- Led model quantization and onnx conversion efforts, ensuring operator compatibility with Qualcomm’s neural network hardware and adjusting models to fix quantization related performance issues
- Developed statistical methods and KPIs to evaluate and track the performance of deep learning object detection networks, automated this analysis by creating scalable cloud data pipelines, and warehoused the data in Google BigQuery
- Created data analysis and visualization tools using python and SQL to track model performance over time
- Developed tools for processing incoming data for network training, employing active learning strategies
- Led radar teams gitlab CI/CD development for docker creation, Pypi repository management, and testing
MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Boston, MA
RADAR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
March 2018 – July 2019
- Integrated hardware and software systems on a large airborne prototype radar created by MIT (ARTB)
- Developed python software for real time control of a large airborne radar
- Constructed a signal processing sandbox for examining radar data with limited computational resources available while airborne
- Designed and implemented systemwide hardware software interfaces for the radar
- Led data collection efforts using the radar, serving as the primary operator for the radar
- Debugged system issues during data collection flights
- Worked on stripmap SAR post data collection processing routines
Firstguard Technologies, Fairfax, VA
SENIOR ENGINEER
May 2014 – February 2017
- Radar signal processing engineer (algorithm design and electromagnetic theory)
- Developed clutter rejection, target identification and tracking algorithms for barreled weapon detection in Matlab
- Led communication of in depth technical concepts to non-technical staff, including outside investors during fundraising pitches and company board meetings. Served as the primary engineer responsible for communicating these ideas to non-engineering personnel, including the CEO, VP, and senior management on the government’s side
- Ran field experiments using prototype radars to collect data in order to demonstrate viability of company patents
